7 Lips in 7 Days: Makeup Revolution Salvation Lip Velvet in Rebel

Day 2
So you've probably heard me raving on about Makeup Revolution for such a long time now. And i do still love it, but as with any brand there are definitely hits and misses, and this one, unfortunately is a miss. I now have two of these and i speak for both in this post somewhat, so it's not just a one colour problem.

Both have the same downfalls and it's so disappointing as they are just such lovely colours and have so much potential to be great.

Let me start off with a positive. The colour is so beautiful, like a rich red, pink in a matte formula. But that's where the problem lies somewhat. It's kind of too matte. The formula is really dry and when you first apply it's really sticky, which makes it quite patchy to apply. The stickiness then dries very solidly to a matte finish, It's almost crusty. This then takes little to no time to start deteriorating starting in the middle of the lips and wearing outwards until you get that ugly lip- line thing left on your lips.

I feel i'm a pretty good judge of lipstick formula's as i have tried a lot, and i haven't actually found any lipsticks that are as drying and deteriorate as quickly as these. And my lips are in pretty good condition meaning that i've pretty much given them the best chance possible to perform.

Another thing i can't stand about these lipsticks is the smell. They smell pretty grim, and it's not the sort of scent you want to put all over your lips. Like if it was a really good product, i'd say i could deal with the scent for the product but i can't even say that about it.
It's a shame because when i picked them up i was expecting them to be very much like the other makeup revolution lip products in the similar packaging, the name escapes me, but i've got a couple of those that i really like and although they aren't a matte finish they are not exactly totally shiny. I thought these would just be the matte versions, which i guess they are, but they are not what i expected at all.

In all, i wouldn't recommend you pick these up unless your looking for a specific colour and don't mind the wear time being short, because they look great in the very short term, (look not feel) and the colour selection is appealing to me being dark, vampy colours. They are quite inexpensive too but for the same price you can pick up the other type of liquid lipstick from makeup revolution which i much prefer and would recommend over.

Thanks for reading guys and I'll be back tomorrow with day 3!

Jo x
